Once was more than enough for us during our july stay at the fairmont san francisco atop nob hill we finally were free on an evening that the tonga room was open. We had planned to spend new year s eve at the tonga room and pay the cover charge. On three previous stays we had missed doing it so had our opportunity. We booked the 6 30 seating for the tonga room 12 31 15.

There was a later seating for dinner. When booking the reservation i asked about staying for the new year s eve celebration. In 2013 the menu was redone and the drink recipes were given an update to match the more traditional style. Tonga room hurricane bar has delighted guests with its tropical décor decadent libations and polynesian fusion cuisine and family style meals since 1945.

If you can do that you will have a blast. The tonga room is a true relic surviving a threat of closure and thriving to become what it is today. I happen to love the tonga room and i was first there over 35 years ago. I was told we could stay in the bar and pay a cover charge.

This was to be our first visit and. It was a buffet meal. But it is not everybody s cup of tea.
